The Cambo team just finished watching the Killing Fields ... twice. The second time with Director commentary, which was very interesting. Kinda made me want to see the movie a third time just because of all the things I missed and the new view point the commentary gave me. I did find the directors commentary interesting because he talked about the war in Cambodia and the peoples terrible struggles from a non-Christian point of view. I noticed that he attributed many of their actions to their inner strength, the will to survive because of family and the things that happened to random chance. Most of those things are good, but when we realize that God is sovereign in all that happens how does that change the view point of the Killing Fields? I have fuzzy ideas at this point, but it's certainly something that will be on my mind for a while to come. I know God does all things for His Glory and the good of His people and that it is not about us but about Him, still the human suffering was terrible high.
Not to end on a morbid note; the coffee was good, the food was great (thanks Rocio!) and the team is bonding (yes Jackson there is a lot of unity ... most of the time :) )
Thats all for now, have a good night!
Alain
